Carolina Donor Services Overview
Carolina Donor Services is the federally designated organ procurement organization serving 7.2 million people in 77 counties of North Carolina and Danville, Virginia. Our service area includes over 100 hospitals, and four transplant centers that perform heart, lung, liver, kidney, intestine, and pancreas transplants.
Dedicated to Service
Our team of dedicated professionals work diligently to increase the awareness of the need for organ and tissue donors and to deliver the most sensitive approach to organ and tissue donation. We perform public and professional education, as well as coordinate the entire organ and tissue donation process.
Dedicated to Mission
Carolina Donor Services strives to be a smart and healthy organization. Smart organizations make the right intellectual decisions, while healthy organizations have the capacity to take advantage of those decisions by minimizing confusion and politics and fostering true productivity and commitment. This process starts with CDS’ cohesive leadership team and living our core values. CDS’ core values are: determined, positive and compassionate. Additionally, there are three strategic anchors utilized in decision making at CDS. Those anchors are: Staff, Service and Maximizing the gift. These strategic anchors optimize organ and tissue donation. All CDS staff are ultimately responsible for over communicating our purpose, core values, and strategic anchors and for doing our jobs in alignment with this clarity. Through this mission, along with Lean initiatives for continual process improvement, Carolina Donor Services’ mission of maximizing the passing of the heroic gift of life from one human being to another through organ and tissue donation is achieved.
